Hi. I am Padma. I stay at
Bangalore with my Husband and teenage son. I am a homemaker, passionate about
food, both cooking and learning about new dishes. I am a Kannadiga who hails
from Tamilnadu but have been raised in North India. I have stayed in Singapore
and UK too. This kind of exposure to different regions and cultures has
broadened my mind regarding the cultures of such places especially w.r.t to
food and the role it plays in the lives of people.
Being part of a traditional
Madhwa family has firmed my roots in the ‘old’ but at the same time having a
teenage son and staying in a cosmopolitan city like Bangalore has made me
embrace the ‘new’ with as much love and passion. This blog aims to be a melting
pot to blend in the ‘new’ and the ‘old’ without compromising on either. I am
not necessarily a “blogger” but Family and friends have encouraged me to share
my passion and experiences in the kitchen and serve it to the world.
I learnt cooking from my Mother. Most girls do, so no big deal. However what I learnt from my Mom is not putting ingredients together and making a dish out of it, but what I really learnt (I was never taught this) from her is how to put your heart and mind into the food that’s cooked be it planning a meal, or sourcing of vegetables and groceries, efficiently using ingredients without wastage, cooking the right quantity to ensure there is enough and more for all yet little to no leftovers. The little tips and tricks which made every meal time a joy while growing up. Despite all her experience and expertise, her passion for food (cooking food i.e.) is still unparalleled and is constantly looking at learning newer recipes and tricks. I intend to carry on the same passion into my blog and share with you what I have learnt from my Mom over the years.
Roti(Food), Kapda(Clothing) aur
Makaan(Shelter) are the 3 basic necessities of life and none is more important
than Food. I strongly believe that Food not just nourishes our body but also
our minds and shapes us into who we are. Hence the title of the blog “WE ARE WHAT WE EAT”.
I cook not just to feed stomachs
but aim to reach the hearts. From my kitchen to your heart this blog will act
as a medium of sharing my journey and experiences. So welcome all of you, to my
Kitchen where I will be sharing recipes (purely vegetarian) and tips that you
can use in your everyday life. Please feel free to share your views, queries
and comments on the posts and join me on this delicious and healthy journey. Cheers!
